Jackson's Blessing

Last Sunday we blessed Jackson at our house. We had to have it at our house due to how late our sacrament meeting is so that my dad could make it. (He flies out to Lewiston, ID every Sunday for work on Monday and Tuesday and there's only one flight which he would have missed if we would have waited till our Sacrament meeting at 3:00!). Though we would have liked to have it at church so that we could have invited more people it all worked out well in the end. It was a little crazy all packed into our small living room but it was a really nice experience and little Jack was perfectly quiet the entire blessing. At the end of the blessing all the men moved their hands to step away and I guess Chad didn't have too great of a hold on him so Jackson came a bit close to taking a tumble but Daddy saved the day. :)

Our first family pic where everyone is at least looking in the same direction and mostly smiling...

Three generations of Henkel men.

Everyone agrees that Jackson got the "Lamb eyes"(my side of the family has those squinty smile eyes) Plus everyone says that Jackson pretty much is a little spitting image of my Dad. So my dad was trying to do Jackson's big smile face to show you how similar they look.

Jack didn't quite cooperate by doing his usual huge smile but as you can see from the pic above that Jack is a little Bryan. The grandpa's are definitely excited to have a little grandson now!

The proud Grandmas holding the little bud!

I had to show this picture because if you look close you will see that some people didn't quite get the memo that this pic was supposed to be a "normal" photo.

That same person didn't quite get the memo that this picture is a "funny" picture...

In the end we were able to get everyone on the same page!

The Lamb family minus Tyler.

The Henkel side of the family.

The Lamb side.

Our little family (Ella was having a tough time wanting to take any pictures that morning so pretty much every picture she is crying, squirming,or looking the other direction and Jack on the other hand was plum tuckered out after all the commotion over him!)

Henkel kids.

Lamb kids.

The Barnums (Diana, Jason and Macazlyn)

Mom and Dad Lamb

Mom and Dad Henkel. (check out Gigi's amazingly blue eyes!)

Some friends in our ward that were able to come to the blessing.

All the cousins...as you can see Ella was NOT having picture time!

After the blessing we had fruit crepes and we tried to take a picture of Ella's berry stained face but she was not interested.

This was her I'm going to rough you up if you take one more picture of me face!

And we can't forget another exciting celebration of that weekend was my little brother Cody's 13th birthday!

We love you Cody! Thanks for coming down even on your birthday and when you weren't feeling well!

Henkel Happenings

Here's some random pictures we've taken over the past little while...

Our attempt at a self-done family picture! Haha Ella didn't want to be in the picture and Jackson's off in La-La Land!

El's being an awesome big sister. She loved trying to hold baby Jack-Jack as she calls him.

I put Jackson on Ella's belly and she thought that was hilarious. Jack's couldn't help but drool on his big sis in all the excitement!

My little cuties!

Cheeeeese!

Buddies!

Asian eyes- Jackson definitely got the Lamb eyes (Ella's are closed and they're about the same size as his hehe)

Just another one of Ella's lovely mess-masterpieces she creates daily!

Cheeeesthe (that's how El says it!)

My dad's first time seeing Jackson.

Bathtime fun! Ella loves bubbles, she is constantly asking for them every time she takes a bath!

El's Uncle Cody and Aunt Tiffy gave Ella a bath.

My mom was entertaining Ella by singing songs with actions to them like "10 little monkeys jumpin on the bed", "wheels on the bus" etc and Ella was cracking up!

My little sweetheart getting so BIG!

Finally!

The Henkels proudly present....

our new little addition (who was once in my belly!)...

we're excited to announce is finally here...

He's our little Jackson Louis Henkel...

For those of you who have not heard the story this is how it all went down...
On Jan 14th (my due date) I had had contractions all morning long so i decided to clean my house like a mad woman (good ol' nesting). After cleaning Chad and I decided we should go on a walk to get this baby coming... to my dismay, after the walk, instead of having stronger contractions they went away all together. So i was disappointed and resolved to the fact that i was probably going to go over my due date just like Ella (she was 4 days late.)
So later that night Chad and I were watching the show 24 and at around 11:30 I started having some pretty strong contractions again but I figured they were just Braxton Hicks all over again because they weren't really that consistent (they were coming from like every 10 to 5 mins). So I decided we'd just wait them out because I didn't want to go to the hospital just to be told to go walk around the place for 2 hours (like with Ella!) So after about a half hour of these contractions my water broke! That was a crazy experience, it was like peeing your pants and you can't make it stop! With Ella they had to break my water so this was all new to me. Then the intense part came...these contractions now that my water was broken were so out of control fierce that I was doubled over in pain and by that time we were frantically trying to get a hold of the poeple who told us they would watch Ella for us. Well for about 30 minutes we couldn't get a hold of anyone and we were ready to take El with us but then Brad Burton the Elder's Quorum Pres. called us back and hurried on over and then we were on our way! So the whole driving expeience from Rexburg to Idaho Falls was INTENSE to say the least. It was truly like those movie labor/deliveries! I was literally screaming at points and slamming my hand into the door of the car to try to manage some of the pain. Chad was trying to keep me calm but i could tell he was nervous too (he was driving around 100mph on a foggy night!) but there was no stopping the madness! On a side note we had never been to the hospital I was supposed to deliver at before (Mountain View Hospital) Chad had tried to mapquest it before leaving but in the chaos during our drive he ended up just following the H signs that lead you to the hospital. So once we were there I was telling them to get the epidural in me fast because I could tell that things were progressing quickly. They checked me when we got there at like 2:05ish am and I was dialated to 6cm. So they put the IV in in preparation for the Epidural and told me the anesthesiologist was on his was way soon. In about 15mins he came in did his whole schpeal and i was telling him i know all the risks just please give it to me in which he then answered me in a very unkind tone " You need to calm down..." I was thinking how about you trade me places and then I'll tell you to calm down! What a punk! Anyways I told them i just needed to wait until this contraction subsided and then I could sit still long enough to let him do the epidural...as i waited i could tell that it wasn't subsiding and that i was feeling this intense need to PUSH! So i told them that and they were shocked. So the nurses checked me again and I was at 10cm and they said you can't get an epidural anymore you need to push this baby out NOW. I was totally floored all i could think was "No way am I having this baby natural" I kept trying to tell them that I couldn't do it cause I was really freaked out ...being that i never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would ever be an possibilty to have him natural. Every time i had thought about having him I knew I was getting DRUGS! Inevitably my body was in control and not my mind so I started pushing like crazy and in about 3 pushes he was out of there! I had to stop after the 1st push because the cord was wrapped around his neck but after they got him loose he was out in a couple minutes! The craziest part was that we kept wondering the whole time where the doctor was (the 2 nurses delivered him b.t.w.) and then a couple minutes after delivering him he showed up and said, " I thought you guys were going to Mountain View Hospital? " We said, "yea isn't this it?" Everyone answered us saying, "No this is EIRMC Hospital." So in essence we had gone to the wrong hospital and our doctor had been there waiting for us and when the nurses called him to say where are you she's in labor he was confused because he was waiting for us in the other hospital. So he tried to rush over to the one we were at but he just missed the delievery! I think he was kinda perturbed about that cause I was only his third delivery in like 4 years that he had missed and i guess he really didn't like that when that happened! So anyway everthing turned out o.k. Jackson was healthy and happy and after the shock wore off and they gave me some medicine to ease the pain it was nice to have it all over and done with in 3 hours! The crazy part is that if Chad wouldn't have been driving 100 mph to get to the hospital we very likely could have delivered him in the car! I got to the hospital around 2:05ish and had Jackson at 2:26am! There you have it!

Here are our bouncing baby boy's stats

Jackson Louis Henkel
9lbs 8oz
22in. and always hungry!

A tired mama after the whole labor ordeal!

Chadder got to give him his first bath at the hospital.

He didn't enjoy it too much!

Then i got to snuggle with the little bud.

A Proud papa!

Grandpa & Grandma Henkel were pretty proud as well, they got to come down that day and see him which was awesome!

My Mom drove up that morning to see the little fella and to help us out for awhile! It was so nice to have her here to give us a break and to cook us great meals...come back mom we need you ;) Love ya momacita!

Here's the little chunk all packed up and ready to go home from the hospital!

Jackson's first bath at home! Don't ya just love naked baby bums?

He was not too keen on the idea...

Getting washed up was not his idea of fun!

Smiling sorta :)

Ella has been such a good big sister, she really loves helping out and giving him lots of kisses and hugs. It's been fun to see her be so sweet to him.

This guy just loves to snuggle with you...he would be completely content all day if i could just hold him all the time...unfortunately that is not possible with two kids!

But he is so fun to cuddle with!

Just a sleepin' away...

Ella lovin' on him but he was ready to eat and wanted to be done with pictures!

MMMwwwaaa! Can''t help wanting to kiss that chubby face!

Best Buddies!
Chad is definitely happy to have another male in the home! Us girls are too! He has been a great little blessing to have in our home and we're glad he's finally here!

Feb 23, 2009

So I am thoroughly annoyed with Qwest...i guess they had some mix up with our order and someone elses'... somehow they were both the same order number which ended up cancelling out one of them and that one happened to be our order...so Chad called in and complained at how long it was taking to get the service and they told us of their mistake and gave us the first 3 months discounted which was nice but they had to resend in the order...which means we are still WAITING for good interenet! Hmph... Someday our blog will be updated...
